The Sovereign promise

If we disappear, you don't.

Most platforms own the account you build on them. If they close, raise your fees, or boot you off, everything you built goes with them. The Sovereign is built the opposite way — what's yours stays yours, on every feature we ship.

What stays yours

Your identity

The handle people see, the keys behind it, the whole portable self you build here. You can take it to any compatible app and keep going.

Your data

Everything you post, message, publish, or store is signed by you and saved where you can still read it after we're gone.

Your reputation

Reviews, history, and trust you earn on any feature travel with your identity. Nobody can secretly delete or fake it.

Your money

The wallet attached to your account is real money. Export it or move it whenever you want. We can't spend it for you, and we can't freeze it.

What you're in charge of

Your backup

We give you a one-tap export of the keys that prove you're you. Save it to a password manager the same way you'd save any other login. Keep it; you'll need it to leave.

Anything you only upload here

Drafts, notes, and things you haven't published are yours, but they live with us until you do something with them. If it's important, back it up.

Your choice to leave

Nothing about The Sovereign locks you in. That's the point. You can be here, somewhere else, or both at once.

How to leave cleanly

01

Export your identity

In settings, confirm your password and copy your backup key to a password manager. That key is how any other app recognizes you as you.

02

Export your wallet

In wallet settings, reveal your wallet credentials, then sweep the balance to any Lightning wallet you control.

03

Walk away

Your data is already signed by you and saved publicly under your name. No migration needed. Delete your account here and you're done.

How it applies to Market

Market is the first feature live on The Sovereign. It's also how we keep the lights on — a flat $5 a month, and nothing else.

The technical version

For people who want the details: identities are Nostr keypairs we generate and encrypt for you server-side, exportable as an nsec any time. Listings on Market are signed Nostr events (kind 30402 — addressable classified listings) pushed to public relays on your behalf. Reviews are signed events referencing the listing and the seller's npub. Profiles are kind 0 metadata events. Your handle is verifiable as [email protected] via NIP-05 at /.well-known/nostr.json. Wallets are Lightning accounts; Tier-3 users connect their own via NWC. Every feature we add follows the same pattern: data signed by you, keys held by you, relays outside of us.

Relays we publish through

wss://relay.damus.ioLive
wss://nos.lolLive

Any Nostr client can read these relays and confirm your content is where we say it is. No trust required.

Stay, leave, or do both.

We built this so the choice is always yours.
